Some are more comfortable with a blanket that is heavier or lighter than the recommended range. Our weighted blankets are designed to sit on top of the bed (unlike a traditional comforter that drapes over the mattress edges), so that the weight is less likely to slip off the side. The blanket should cover the proportions of the user's body, not the exact dimensions of a standard size mattress.The average body weight of someone who uses a 5lb weighted blanket ranges 30-40lbs.
