This standards-aligned center, designed by teachers, promotes deep mathematical thinking and concept modeling through group engagement. With enough materials for up to six students, it supports Cognitively Guided Instruction, encouraging students to choose problem-solving strategies that make sense to them while engaging in hands-on activities and gamified learning. Students draw cards, move pawns along a path, and model addition as they race both their pawns from start to end, fostering strategic thinking and collaboration. Skill differentiation is built-in, offering two levels of play with simple, shared instructions. The center is inclusive, accommodating various learning styles, and features downloadable Spanish instructions and dual-language activity mats to support language learners. Its reusable, durable format ensures year-round use, while downloadable assessments help track individual and class progress. This engaging, hands-on center makes skill-building fun as students think, model, and learn!
- GEARED FOR SKILL DIFFERENTIATION: This center was designed by teachers to be standards aligned to Grades 2-3. This Addition center offers two levels of play that share common instructions: Adding Within 100 and Adding Within 1000.
- SUPPORTS COGNITIVELY GUIDED INSTRUCTION: Allows students to choose an approach that is meaningful to them and model their mathematical thinking with hands-on engagement and gamification.
