Elkonin sound boxes are used as an instructional technique which can quickly and easily teach students to segment the individual sounds (or phonemes) of words. Students begin by placing one counter below each box within the sound box. When orally given a word, students first repeat the word and then move the counters one at a time up into the sound boxes in a left-to-right progression as they slowly segment the phonemes in the word. After students segment the phonemes in the word using the sound box, they blend the sounds back together and say the word normally as they move their fingers along the bottom of the sound box. This set of 5 wooden-handled rubber stamps feature two-, three-, four-, five-, and six-phoneme sound boxes.
- WHAT YOU GET: Five wooden-handled rubber stamps measuring 1.6” x 1.05” for the smallest, 2-box stamp, and 4.2” x 1.05” for the largest, 6-box stamp.
- PERFECT FOR SCIENCE OF READING: Whether you are teaching Science of Reading or phonics, these stamps are the perfect way to help student how to segment sounds in words.
- USE WITH COUNTERS: A great use of these stamps is to have students begin by placing one counter below each box within the sound box.
- REPEATED PRACTICE: This set of stamps allow teachers to create repeated practice opportunities whether it is creating worksheets, activities, or stamping sound boxes on assignments for additional repeated practice.
- CREATED BY TEACHERS: These sound box stampes were created using best practices in teaching and the knowledge and usage of phonics.
