Engaging Response Journals Encourage Students To Predict, Question, Clarify, Connect, Summarize, And Evaluate

These response journals help students develop thinking strategies as they record their thoughts on sticky notes as they read, then organize the notes on the preprinted columns in these journals for post-reading evaluation of the material and self-monitoring. You can refer to the journals to efficiently assess individual student comprehension. The Activity Guide includes modeling and practice strategies for students to follow as they write, and a reproducible assessment record for you to track their progress.

Encourages Reading Comprehension

I'm a former teacher who decided to stay home and educate my children. I love this with my Thomas Jefferson philosophy of education. It helps my kids break down their reading by chapter and enables them to easily go back, look at their notes and write their papers from their notes. It's also great to save as a work sample. I can look at how their penmanship has improved and their questions and writing has matured. Of course it aids reading comprehension. They have now used it with both fiction and non-fiction; and ask me for another journal instead of me reminding them to go get one when they pick up a new book! I LOVE THAT! I am already recommending this to friends and looking to place another order for more!
