Sounds like it is quitting already

The sleek style of this sharpener is appealing. The cord is easily removed from the base for ease in dumping the shavings. The very top of the reservoir twists off so the shavings can be dumped quickly. If the shavings fill the reservoir halfway, the machine begins to bog down, so it has to be emptied often. Also, I have had mine less than a week, and the motor is showing some reluctance to start on many occasions. Maybe I need to empty the reservoir even more often, so that the shavings are not interfering at all. Granted, I have used mine mostly for sharpening colored pencils, but the advertising on the package says that it is designed to sharpen graphite and colored pencils. I will try to comment again if the holder quits completely or keeps on trucking through the school year.

I don't know how to open this to empty it? Can anybody help?

Really Good Stuff Response It’s very common for people to attempt to remove the entirety of the plastic bin, when it actuality, only the very top of the module will twist off.
