Great for independent reading

The cards are bigger than I expected, so they could be shared in a group to direct independent, buddy, or small group reading. They are wipe-off cards, so they can be used repeatedly. There are mini-worksheets on the back of the cards (pertaining to the mission on the front) that students can complete as they read. Teachers can use the worksheets for student accountability or assessments. It's a great way to differentiate, as all students could be assigned different "missions!"

Great for listening comprehension too!

I am a school librarian that is always looking for ways to tie in content when students come to the library. The Book Mission activity is great with read alouds I am already doing! Plus, as an added bonus, the cards are write-again material that can be used again and again! This fits great into our new content standards!
