With the end of the school year coming up quickly, now is the time to start thinking about creating a gift for students graduating from your class. Mary Anne, a 2nd Grade Teacher from Pennsylvania, sent us this idea that combines her love for scrapbooking with her love for her students.
Scrapbooking Idea for the End of the School Year
I like to scrapbook in my “spare” time and am always taking pictures of my students. At the end of the year, I make an easy scrapbook page for each student to take home and keep. Each page includes a group photo from our field trip, another group photo from our annual “Cowboy Day,” a photo of each child working or playing, and a photo of each child with me.
I print the photos out, crop them, and then mount each set of photos on scrapbook paper that coordinates with our school theme. Finally, I add some subtitles next to the group photos, as well as a little note from me to each student. The pages are similar in design, so assembling one for each student doesn’t take more than an hour or two. I get many compliments and words of thanks from the children and parents alike who appreciate the pages. I always feel good when they leave with this special keepsake in hand.

You can also use some of the pictures and scrapbook materials to create a cover for their Summer Reading Response Journal.
Help them make reading goals and you can print questions on colored paper and cut out with craft scissors.
