Graffiti Board Inspires Kids to Write, Read, & Talk About Books.

Graffiti Board Inspires Kids to Write, Read, & Talk About Books.
Idea by Tanya, 4th Grade Teacher, Burns, Tennessee:

Each year, I transform a bulletin board near my reading area into a "graffiti board." I cover it with colorful craft paper and leave a box of markers on the bookcase. Then I post a question about books or reading and let the students respond. For example, some of my questions have included:

"What good books did you read this summer?"
"Where have you been lately? Tell us about a book with a great setting."
"Which character have you enjoyed reading about?"

My students enjoy writing on the board, as well as using markers and being creative with their lettering. The board encourages students to talk about what they're reading, which in turn, encourages reading!
