Let a Football Field Inspire Math Concepts.
Idea by Lorri, 3rd Grade Teacher, Mayo, Florida:

As part of our math curriculum, our third graders learn about units of measurement. Because many students are interested in football I have my students use yardsticks to measure our school football field. We then discuss how to convert the measurements into feet and inches. This year I’m hoping to have a football player or two join our measurement efforts! For us, linking our measurement studies with football has made all the difference.
