I struggled with this last year BIG time. I had 4 year olds and 6 years olds at the beginning of the year, due to our cut-off for K being October 1st. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can make this work? I have a feeling it will be the same thing this year too and the age difference is HUGE, especially socially and emotionally.

We have had that issue before too, our cut off date is Sept 15, not nearly as late as yours but it’s tough. We have those that could have come the previous year and either are turning 6 or are 6 already and then those that are just turning 5. We as a kindergarten have always wish in this instance that we could have a pre-k at our school for these littles. We group kids by needs for what we call Walk to Read so these littles that are usually the young 5’s get the instruction they need at their level.
