I learned that a position in a great school is opening up in late February.  It’s at a school I have always wanted to teach at and have had my application in for for a long time.  I just never thought that it would have a position mid-year.  I’m currently teaching and am torn between whether or not to go for this other position and leave my class or stay where I am and possibly miss out on the opportunity to interview there again.  Help!

That’s a tough position to be in for sure. I’d say, trust your gut. If it really feels wrong to leave your current situation, stay. If it’s something that you would rather not do, but it feels exciting, switch.  You have to do what’s best for you and your family FIRST.  Always. Good luck either way!

I switched schools mid-year and it was TOUGH, but it was the best thing for me and my family.  I love teaching and love my students, but you have to put your own family’s needs ahead of your job.  Good luck either way!
