Can you believe Memorial Day is over and summer is unofficially here? Take a look at these three fun and kid-tested (and approved!) activities that are perfect for kicking off the summer fun right now!
Fun Summer Activities for Kids and Families
1. Flat Stanley
If you have never heard of Flat Stanley now is your chance to find out who he is and make him a part of your summer photo fun. Click here to find out more.
2. Postcards Around the Country
Team up with friends and neighbors across the country and make it a goal to collect postcards from all 50 states this summer. Connect with friends from high school and ask them to send postcards to your kids from where they live now in exchange for one from your location. See how many you can collect by the time school starts.
3. Family Fun Learning Checklist
Print out a list of great summer learning opportunities for students and encourage them to complete the list with their families over the summer. You can find the ideas and the free printable here.
4. Map Out the Summer
Break out a map of the United States and plan where you want to go! If you’re having a stay-cation instead, track out many miles you walk during the summer months or how many miles you drive around town. Then map them on your map and see where you would have ended up had you traveled those miles across the country.
5. Ready, Set, READ!
Sign-up for reading programs at your local library or book store and track how many hours your family reads over the summer. Make it a family affair by setting aside time each day for everyone to read. Some programs even offer free books, prizes, and more!
